Finatal is currently working with a fast-growing, Private Equity-backed online marketplace with a subscription-based revenue model, currently generating £50m in revenue and £10m EBITDA. The business has pursued an acquisitive growth strategy and is set to complete a further two bolt-on acquisitions in the near future. With ambitious plans for expansion and an expected exit via trade sale or secondary buyout within the next 18 months, the company is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Finance Director (No. 2 Finance) to join the leadership team.
The Finance Director (FD) will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and play a pivotal role in overseeing and driving the financial strategy of the business. This is a senior leadership position within a high-growth environment, with key responsibility for managing the finance function, supporting the business’s acquisitive strategy, and preparing the company for its eventual exit. The FD will work closely with the CFO, leadership team, and investors to deliver on financial objectives and ensure the company is optimally positioned for future success.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting process, ensuring alignment with the business’s growth targets and acquisition strategy.
* Prepare and present monthly and quarterly financial reports to the board, investors, and senior management, providing clear insights into business performance and financial health.
* Oversee financial operations and maintain strong financial controls, ensuring compliance and accuracy in all financial reporting.
* Support the evaluation and execution of bolt-on acquisitions, including financial due diligence, integration planning, and performance tracking post-acquisition.
* Develop and manage financial models to evaluate potential acquisitions and exit scenarios, ensuring robust financial analysis to support decision-making.
* Take ownership of cash flow management, working capital optimisation, and liquidity planning to ensure the business can continue to scale efficiently.
* Advise on financial risk management, including managing relationships with lenders, investors, and other key stakeholders.
* Play a key role in preparing for a successful exit, collaborating with advisors and ensuring the business is financially ready for potential trade sales or secondary buyouts.
* Manage and develop a small finance team, fostering a high-performance culture while ensuring operational efficiency.
Skills and Experience
* ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified with a proven track record in senior finance roles, ideally within Private Equity-backed businesses.
* Extensive experience working in subscription-based business models, particularly in online marketplaces, SaaS, or similar industries.
* Demonstrable experience in managing acquisitions, from due diligence through to integration and ongoing performance management.
* Strong strategic and commercial acumen, with the ability to influence and drive business decisions at the executive level.
* Familiarity with preparing businesses for an exit, including working with external advisors and preparing financial data rooms for sale processes.
* Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with non-financial stakeholders across the business.
