What's involved with this role: Title: Interim Surveyor - Maintenance (Engineering & Surveying) Job Ref: ATR TCL 5254388 Pay Rate:£40,482.00 per annum Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours Role Length: This opening assignment is Permanent City: FERNDOWN From Monday to Thursday out and about in the communities, with Friday typically being an admin/meeting day. They will mostly work alone out in the communities. They will be happy communicating with colleagues and customers frequently, face to face, on the phone or in writing. A strength will be time management and experience in working to deadlines, managing own time and workload. Key Responsibilities: Identify works require to a void to meet lettable standard. Undertake domestic and commercial building surveys to provide advice on matters such as construction defects, disrepair and dilapidations. Produce detailed reports concerning findings including options for remedial solutions with cost estimates and proposals regarding safe methods of work. Provide advice to colleagues regarding legislative matters such Planning and Building Regulations approval etc Keeping abreast of industry law and best practice and how to apply them to operations. Working with and influencing colleagues in other parts of the business to achieve operational outcomes Decisions that safeguard the health and safety of customers and contractors Ensuring the Aster Way culture and accountability for actions is embedded across their teams Managing budgets relevant to their consulting contract, ensuring that they are appropriate, and expenditure kept within budget and delivered in accordance with the Financial Regulations, Standing Orders and audit requirements taking appropriate action when variances occur. Ensuring that the management of major works contracts meet all required standards of performance, including audit, time, cost, quality and customer satisfaction Qualifications: Relevant academic and/or professional qualification in Construction or Surveying. Has a current, full driving license or the ability to travel around the local vicinity Knowledge: Knowledgeable in current methods, standards and initiatives relating to repair and refurbishment of residential dwellings. Working knowledge of current Health and Safety with particular reference to the building and construction sector Commercial awareness with an understanding of financial and contractual considerations Experience: Experience of surveying and contract management in the social housing sector. Experience of monitoring works budgets c. Skills & Abilities: Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal Astute analytical skills Able to maintain professional dignity when challenged Able to provide a flexible approach to work, and occasionally undertake work outside normal office hours.
