Senior/Principal Geotechnical Engineer - Croydon The candidate: Essential: Leadership, technical expertise in design, and client development skills. Design experience working in the infrastructure sector for clients such as Network Rail, London Underground, TfL, etc. The ideal candidate should have: As a Senior/Principal Geotechnical Engineer, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and technical oversight for engineering projects. Experience of some of the following – Earthwork, Retaining walls, tunnels, stations & buildings and design using various materials, e.g. - concrete, steel, timber, masonry or FRP. This is for the Civils/ Geotechnical team. Chartered or near chartered status with Institution of Civil Engineers You will guide project teams, liaise with clients, and ensure the successful delivery of engineering projects on time and budget. 8 years of experience in relevant discipline with a successful track record of leading and delivering high-profile projects. This role involves building strong client relationships, as well as driving business development and innovation. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Responsibilities will include: Lead design and analysis on a range of infrastructure projects. Provide technical oversight and approval of geotechnical designs. Development of conceptual designs and producing engineering designs, drawings and reports in accordance with project requirements and ensure technical compliance. Geotechnical calculations and analysis using tools such as Slope W, Settle 3, CADS Pile Suite, PILE, ALP, Kubla Cubed, or similar. If relevant to your experience, structural calculations and analysis using tools such as LUSAS, MIDAS, STRAND, OASYS GSA or similar. Checking of design documents, calculations and drawings completed by other engineers to ensure technical compliance. On site visits/ surveys/ inspections/ investigations. This would require you to be a Sentinel PTS card holder, for which MHB would be your Sponsor. Oversee multidisciplinary teams and ensure project compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Manage project teams, ensuring deliverables are on time and within budget. Build strong client relationships and secure new business opportunities. Guide and mentor engineers, providing technical and managerial support. Oversee the financial management and profitability of projects. Attend meetings representing the team as well as representing the company in industry events and technical publications. Contribute to business development and secure new projects through client engagement and proposal writing. The successful candidate will be working from our Croydon Office and work closely with discipline heads based in the other MHB offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh and york.
