Our Engineering / R&D function: We have over 30 people in our Engineering / R&D team based primarily out of our headquarters in Cwmbran. Our engineering functions span hardware, software, Cloud/IT, digital, new product development and product assurance focussing on ensuring that all our products achieve the highest standards of quality, longevity and compliance to the latest technical and environmental standards that the market demands. The Role: We are looking for a Design Assurance Engineer to join our HWM Engineering function, you will be confirming that new and existing products are suitable for the market place. The Design Assurance Engineer will also support with technical investigations and incorporating latest learning into new testing techniques to ensure that HWM products are continuously improving. Among the activities to be expected in this role, but not limited to, are: To perform product functionality, performance and reliability testing To support new product development activities by preparing and/or procuring prototype sample products Investigation and resolution of product technical issues, whether found in the field or by production or service functions Development of bespoke test equipment and software To support testing of products by external standards bodies, including preparation of test samples and dealing with any issues that arise To support application field trials and issue resolution, both domestic and overseas. In order to perform this role, occasional UK/international travel may be required The Candidate: Responsible, with a professional approach to work Clear communication, written and verbal, with the ability to discuss work with a range of audiences including stakeholders, peers, senior colleagues, and specialists Excellent time management and organisational skills Problem solving skills Attention to detail Competent skills in electronics and embedded software, e.g. Arduino Ability to work in a team and individually Organisational skills with the capability of working towards tight deadlines A passion for technology Work to a high level of accuracy Experience / Skills Required University degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent (STEM) Some experience or knowledge of electronics systems Some experience or knowledge of embedded software (e.g. C/C++/C#/Python) Excellent communication and written skills Willingness to work in a team-oriented, dynamic working environment MS Windows, MS Office Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook Fluency in English Experience / Skills Desired Industry experience in an electronics product testing environment Jira (or similar) Master’s degree will be considered a plus Knowledge of embedded design (hardware and firmware), battery operated applications, ATEX, GSM technology.
