Main duties of the job An exciting opportunity now exists for an Emergency Nurse Practitioner position within the Urgent Treatment Centre. Applications are invited from Registered Nurses with proven A&E/Urgent Care experience and willing to undertake an enhanced role to assess and deliver treatment to patients presenting with minor injuries and minor illness and to facilitate the treatment of more seriously injured and ill patients within an Urgent Care Centre environment. Successful applicants must have experience in minor injury management having obtained relevant MIU qualifications as they will be required to work autonomously and in conjunction with agreed clinical guidelines. The candidate must be confident and competent in extended skills to include x ray interpretation and suturing and be able to initiate immediate life support situations. Advanced life support training will be undertaken as part of the role. This post demands a commitment to self-development and team working and there is also a significant managerial component to this role. This includes providing senior support to the hospital site at night and taking charge of the department in the absence of a band 7 nurse. Previous management experience will be an advantage although relevant training and support will be given to the right candidate.
