Decontamination Services within BFS provides a decontamination service for both surgical instruments and endoscopes to Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and several other NHS and Private Providers in the surrounding areas.
An exciting opportunity has become available to support the Decontamination Leadership Team as Decontamination Quality Manager. You will be part of a strong managerial support team including a Head of Operations, a Production Manager, and the Supervisory Team. You will be responsible for looking after the Quality Management System and all items related to the ISO 13485 accreditation, training, and Internal and External Audits.

The right candidate will engage with various different service users across the Trust and outside, building meaningful and collaborative relationships.
Main duties of the job
1. Ensure that the department is progressive in its practice.
2. Lead the supervision, design, and delivery of training and competence assessment of all decontamination staff.
3. Ensure own professional and managerial development.
4. Comply, in all aspects of the work, with all components of the Trust's Infection Control Policy and the Hygiene Code as per the IP&C policy.
5. Act as lead specialist in the field of decontamination ensuring that knowledge and skills are kept up to date via continuous professional development.
6. Lead for the ongoing compliance, in particular to maintain registration for ISO 13485 and MHRA, and achieve and maintain registration with the Medical Device Regulation (MDR) 2002, audits, policies, and procedures to enable the services to remain accredited and any other related legislation.
7. Lead and develop the decontamination services Quality Policy, Technical Files, and Quality Manuals.
8. Provide specialist scientific/technical and sensitive information and advice to healthcare staff and customers/service users to ensure the Trust/BFS is kept up to date with the latest guidance and recommendations on decontamination.
9. Investigate and report on all appropriate incidents recorded (datix) and when required, investigate Field Safety Notices (FSNs), Medical Devices Alerts (MDAs), and adverse incidents involving possible medical equipment failure.
10. Ensure that the Health & Safety Policy for the departments is implemented and maintained.

Qualifications
* Chartered Member of the Institute of Decontamination Sciences
* Member of IDSc or studying for membership
* Health Service Management course or other middle management qualification
* Evidence of ongoing CPD
* Significant knowledge of ISO standards and their implementation including the Medical Device Regulations
* User Qualification to HTM 0101 and HTM 0106
* Internal auditor to ISO 13485
* Undergraduate Degree or Equivalent
* Postgraduate Degree or equivalent level of knowledge through academic courses to postgraduate level
Experience
* Practical experience through in-service training and through formal accredited courses
* Ability to lead, inspire and engage a team
* Effective Performance Management
