About the College/Department
The University of Derby Estates Department is dedicated to cultivating a vibrant, innovative, and sustainable campus environment, that supports our passion for delivering world class education and ground-breaking research.
The Estates team has over 250 colleagues, working across all of our sites on everything from the refurbishment of buildings to catering.
Our Campus Services teams strive to maintain and enhance the exceptional facilities and services that empower our students and staff to thrive in a safe, welcoming, and inspiring setting for our community.
We are the team who look after the services and facilities on our sites - food, travel, security, cleaning, waste, print, post, and the porters are all within our service line.
About the Role
This position is a varied, customer-facing role within the Estate Management Department, focused on delivering exceptional service to a diverse range of stakeholders, including staff, students, suppliers, and external contacts.
The role entails responding promptly and effectively to customer queries, logging work requests with precision, and processing finance requisitions accurately. Acting as the primary point of contact for the Estates Department, the Estates helpdesk Operative will embody professionalism and ensure a welcoming and efficient interface for all interactions.
With a commitment to high standards, the individual will play a key role in maintaining the department’s reputation for excellence and future development in service delivery, including the evolution of our new Service Centre.
About You
You will have proven experience in a fast-paced administrative or customer-facing service role, showcasing the ability to thrive in dynamic environments while maintaining a focus on quality.
You will demonstrate expertise in handling information with methodical precision and meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all tasks. The role requires you to be a proactive individual, capable of using your initiative to independently manage and priorities multiple activities and projects, consistently delivering results within set deadlines. A strong commitment to providing a high standard of customer service is essential, underpinned by experience in creating positive and professional interactions with a diverse range of stakeholders.
