Would you like to join an international defence company to support their clients by improving the capability, reliability, and availability of their most critical assets? Due to continued investment, this global business is currently looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their existing team in Plymouth (mostly working from home, typically onsite 2 consecutive days per month) on a contract basis.
The Role
As a Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer, you will be required to support a team in providing their Design and Technical Authority responsibilities to the business. Your responsibilities will include the following but not limited to:
1. Support design activities from requirements capture, design development from concept through to detailed design, implementation and close out, to through-life support, decommissioning, and disposal, ensuring compliance with site Licence Conditions, statutory legislation, and design codes/standards, producing design guidance, substantiation and analyses, and delivering against agreed budgets/timescales
2. Maintaining and controlling modifications to, and deviations from, the design intent of the Building Engineering Services for the nuclear-implicated and non-nuclear mechanical systems
3. Acting as the custodian of reference design documentation
In addition, you will also provide technical support, advice, guidance, and resolutions to optioneering studies, design reviews, HAZOPS, etc, and assist with the technical development of junior staff when appropriate.
You
To succeed within the role of a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you'll have experience in a similar position and have the following skills:
4. Degree qualified, or equivalent qualification, in Building Services Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or related subjects
5. Chartered Engineer with CIBSE or IMechE, or working towards CEng
6. Understanding of mechanical engineering principles for the design, operation, and maintenance of Steam & Condensate, Industrial Gases, Fresh Water, Demineralised Water, HVAC, Domestic Water services, etc
In addition, you should also have experience of working in a design consultancy and/or experience of working within a contractor design environment and have experience in managing a small team of engineers.
Please note that due to the security nature of this role, we can only consider those who are sole British nationals. Offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining SC security clearance. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and will require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK of 5 years or longer.
