A well-established, privately owned housebuilder based in Hertfordshire is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a variety of residential projects and take a leading role in ensuring the financial success of the company's developments.
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of cost control, procurement, and contract administration across multiple residential projects. You will work closely with the project team to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the full lifecycle of cost management for residential projects, from pre-construction through to final account.
Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and financial reports for projects.
Oversee procurement of subcontractors and suppliers.
Advise on contractual matters and manage claims and variations.
Monitor project progress and identify areas for cost savings or financial improvement.
Maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and suppliers.
Ideal Candidate:
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor with at least 3-5 years in a senior role, preferably within the residential housebuilding sector.
Exposure to estimating processes and understanding of pre-construction costs.
Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement processes, and cost control.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to build strong relationships with clients, contractors, and colleagues.
Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
Based within an hour's commute of Letchworth Garden City.
Qualifications:
A degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or related discipline (desirable).
Chartered status (RICS) is an advantage but not essential.
