Salary: SO2 £40,893 - £43,920 per annum

The Role
To assist with the delivery of the annual business plan on a day to day basis by delivering the design, implementation, support, maintenance and continuous improvement of police ICT systems within the parameters of the Departments Service Level Agreements.
What Youll Do
To liaise with external agencies & organisations, external suppliers and internal customers in order to efficiently implement, maintain and enhance systems.
To liaise with internal ICT functions to co-ordinate work for system delivery and support.
To define and implement database architectures that meet business requirements for data availability within budgetary constraints.
To install database software, create databases and apply patches.
To manage the capacity of force database instances with emphasis on performance and cost by maintaining an inventory and relevant metrics.
To implement continuous improvement of DBA processes, retrospectively applying new good practices and refactoring procedures to reflect them.
To automate processes in order to improve reliability and repeatability.
To undertake database performance management and tuning.
To implement and monitor database security and auditing procedures.
To validate business continuity solutions so that High Availability and Disaster Recovery requirements can be satisfied (RPO, RTO).
To fulfil licence management, including maintaining licence pools and adding new items as required.
To fulfil the role of Ordnance Survey Liaison Officer to enable the force to maintain its obligations under the Public Sector Mapping Agreement (PSMA).
To assist in the scoping and commissioning of third party applications though activities such as; producing requirements documents, responding to technical tender queries, scoring tenders, installations and maintenance.
To support and maintain the force Geographical Information System (GIS) through a full spectrum of GIS activities including:
Installation and configuration of the ESRI GIS product stack featuring Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Server, Data Store and Licence Server.
Requirements gathering, design & implementation and maintenance of Enterprise Geodatabases.
The design and publication of geospatial REST services such as OGC WMTS, WFS & WMS.
Processing of geospatial data, e.g. exporting to third parties & other organisations and spatial ETL.
Automation e.g. through models/scripting.
Producing Portal WebApps.
Extending the system through the adoption of new functionality as required.
To provide advice and guidance to members of the GIS user community regarding the correct usage of systems, through activities such as:
The use of desktop GIS clients.
Co-ordinate Reference Systems (CRS).
Editing of geometry and attribute items.
Integration with related products such as i2 ANB.
Representing the force at relevant user groups such as the national GIS group and providing input to national data standards.
Authoring and maintaining technical documentation including Frequently Asked Questions, change logs and procedures.
To provide third line support of incidents and problems through systematic investigation and root cause analysis. To determine options for remediation and apply these accordingly.
To assist with the technical guidance and mentoring of relevant support staff.
To partake in an out of hours call out rota.
To provide Linux System Administration.
To undertake Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities such as instructor led-training, e-learning and workshops in order to keep abreast of new technologies so that they can be implemented within force.
What Youll Bring
A relevant degree or equivalent industry recognised qualification.
At least 3 years professional experience gained within an IT field/industry.
At least 3 years previous technical experience for example DBA/GIS and 3 rd party support.
To possess a full, current driving licence, or access to a means of mobility support.
