Are you a qualified nurse with current oncology or acute nursing experience looking to join a small but essential acute oncology nursing team?
We are seeking compassionate people with experience of working in a hospital environment to join our integrated trust, working predominantly at Yeovil District Hospital.
We value our RGNs highly, so development and training within this role will be offered and prioritised with opportunities for further progression.
There is an expectation that hours are worked flexibly over a rota basis which does include weekdays and occasional weekends.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide specialist services to cancer patients as outlined below:
1. To develop advanced clinical expertise with an emphasis on clinical examination and assessment skills and be able to manage patients with rapidly changing clinical conditions.
2. To focus on the management of life-threatening clinical situation associated complications of cancer and its treatments.
3. Work in a clinic setting to assess, plan and deliver high quality emergency care to an individual with cancer.
4. To provide an assessment service to ensure responsive triage (via the cancer helpline including weekends and bank holidays) and implementation of appropriate and timely clinical care for patients with complications of diagnosed cancer and or its associated anti-cancer therapies.
5. To ensure proactive delivery of preventative care to minimise the risks of the effects of cancer and its treatments.

* Sound knowledge of the care and management of emergencies in particular with reference to:
o Acute presentation of malignancy.
