The University of St Andrews is on an ambitious trajectory for its research and the way in which professional services enables research for our academics. To support this ambition, the University is seeking a dynamic and creative Head of Research Impact, who will be responsible for driving the translation of research into real world impact with demonstrable benefit to society. The role-holder will provide professional services leadership on all aspects of research impact, including both disciplinary and interdisciplinary research from across the University, by providing strategic advice, leading approaches to impact for research funding and REF, ensuring that a range of services and interventions are employed to facilitate impact generation from research.
The role-holder will employ their advanced understanding of impact development to guide the University and our academics on how to both generate and mature impact through all stages of research delivery. This will involve effective guidance, coordination and planning around impact. You will have an integral role in the development and support of impact case studies for REF. The Head of Research Impact will manage the University’s Impact Acceleration Accounts and provide strategic and operational direction and reporting on the portfolio of projects associated with them. The successful candidate will lead and line manage the Impact Team in Research and Innovation Services department, providing management oversight to the work of the team and supporting individual’s workload prioritisation and professional development.
We are looking for an individual with significant experience and understanding of research impact, excellent communication skills and relevant experience preferably in universities.
