An exciting opportunity is available for CSWs to join the Maternity Team at Wirral University Teaching Hospital. The role will involve supporting registered Midwives in caring for mums and babies on the Delivery Suite and Maternity Ward, supporting the Midwife in Maternity Triage, and being part of the Maternity Theatre Team on Delivery Suite.
The post involves assisting staff in the efficient running of the Delivery Suite predominantly, whilst also supporting the Theatre and Ward areas. We are looking for experienced CSWs who can be part of the team providing great maternity care, ensuring the Delivery Suite is clean and well prepared for women arriving to give birth. The role involves shift work, including days, nights, and weekend working. The post holder needs to have NVQ2 in Healthcare or be recruited on an apprenticeship scheme.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintain stock levels and general housekeeping duties of the department(s).
2. Be aware of the need for safety of patients, staff, and visitors at all times.
3. Report any hazards to the person in charge, completing incident reports as necessary.
4. Support with reception and welcoming patients and relatives in the clinical area.
5. Ensure adequate supplies of laundry and dispose of any dirty laundry according to policy.
6. Assist the Registered Midwife and theatre team in administering direct patient care acting as a runner to scrub nurse.
7. Prepare and maintain the theatre environment ready for immediate use.
8. Clean and restock infant resuscitaires for use.

If successful in this role, there is a requirement for you to have an Enhanced DBS. This will be paid for by the Trust and then deducted from your salary over a period of 3 months. As this vacancy is within the division of Women and Children, there is a mandatory requirement for successful applicants to join the DBS update service. The cost of joining the update service is £13 per year, and applicants are liable to cover this cost with no reimbursement from the Trust.
