About the Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Senior Process Engineer to join our product development team. The successful candidate will focus on advancing our proprietary reactor design and associated balance of plant through increasing scales, from demonstrator to pilot to commercial size.
Responsibilities:
* Lead process engineering design activities in a timely and cost-effective manner.
* Collaborate with subcontractors and vendors to achieve the goal of reaching a demonstrator scale plant by 2024, and a pilot by 2026.
* Develop flowsheets (PFDs), detailed calculations, and mass and energy balances.
* Design process control and system configurations (P&IDs).
* Calculate equipment and instrumentation sizing.
* Create specifications for equipment and instruments, and support procurement processes.
* Identify hazards and manage risks.
* Own the technical delivery of engineering projects, reviewing contractor design deliverables and responding to technical queries.
* Support lab-scale testing and scale-up, minimizing hazard and risk.
* Contribute to writing bids: grant applications and customer proposals.
* Participate in customer-facing project development and negotiations for product integration.
* Liaise and negotiate with partners and vendors.
Requirements:
Masters degree or above in Chemical/Process Engineering.
Senior or equivalent status as a process engineer in a relevant industry.
Key Skills:
* Proven experience working with high-pressure/high-temperature systems and flammable gases.
* Adept in process engineering design from first principles.
* Experience throughout the project development lifecycle, from feasibility and conceptual work to FEED and EPC to delivery and operations.
* Proficient user of process modelling software such as Aspen, HYSYS, PRO II, or Unisim.
* Demonstrated commitment to safety and inherent safe design.
* Strong communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a team environment.
Preferred Skills:
* Electrochemical experience: electrolysis or fuel cells.
* Design experience in hydrogen and oxygen.
* Design experience in supercritical water.
* Thermal design using HTRI.
* Experience scaling up designs.
* Chartered engineer status.
* CFD/modelling experience.
