Job overview
The role of patient flow co-ordinator is to support the nurse in charge of the emergency department in maintaining patient flow, streaming and to work towards maintaining departmental targets.
As patient flow you will assist registered nurses in complex discharges from the unit and will be assisting in the coordination of transferring patients to the ward or other departments to continue care. You will work closely with the MDT within the department to ensure patients are referred to a speciality in a timely manner.
Main duties of the job
An opportunity has arisen for a patient flow coordinator in the Emergency Department Team at Furness General Hospital.
We are looking for enthusiastic, caring and motivated individuals with excellent communication skills. Ideally with acute/health care experience but this is not essential as training and support will be provided.
A shift system is in operation between the hours of 07:00 - 20:00 and you will be expected to work weekends.

Education and qualifications
* Good standard of education
* Previous experience in a care environment
* Clinical course appropriate to area. eg cannulation, venepuncture ECG skills
