Senior Commercial Lawyer – FTC (up to 12 months)
Location: Commutable distance to Winchester / London (Hybrid Working Model)

We are seeking a qualified Legal Advisor to join our dynamic team. As the key legal contact for our Commercial stakeholders, including Smart Utilities Networks and Procurement, you will provide expert legal advice and support on product development, commercial contracts, and customer and supplier relationships. Your role will involve advising on all stages of the customer journey, from bid to contract to delivery, and analysing risk to offer timely, pragmatic, and commercial legal advice.
The role:
* Key legal team contact and business partner for Commercial stakeholders including Smart Utilities Networks and Procurement. This includes providing legal advice and support on product development, commercial contracts and customer and supplier relationships.
* Customer relationship support includes advising on all stages of the customer journey from bid to contract to delivery.
* Analysis of risk based on commercial context and provision of timely, pragmatic and commercial legal advice.
* Establish strong and effective working relationships both internally and externally. The role includes liaising and collaborating with colleagues from across all areas of the business including Commercial, Procurement, Finance, Risk, Technology, Information Security & Operations.
* Provide regulatory advice and support to the business and work with the Regulatory team in responding to consultations as needed.
* Contribute to precedent and process improvement, training, knowhow and development initiatives within the business.
* Manage external lawyers on a variety of matters including disputes/litigation.
* Support other members of the Legal team as needed including on corporate matters and governance work.
The person:
* Qualified to practise as a lawyer in England and Wales.
* 5+ years PQE (PQE is given as a guide but candidates with commensurate experience will be welcomed). Experience in technology, telecommunications and/or procurement/supply chain contracting. Experience of SaaS or PaaS contracting will be a significant advantage.
* An understanding of and curiosity about new technologies.
* Understanding the application of intellectual property rights to development of new technologies.
* Excellent communication, legal drafting and negotiating skills.
* Track record of providing business, commercial and solution focused advice.
* Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams.
* Enthusiasm for innovation.
