Job Summary
Stockport NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a caring, enthusiastic individual to join their Integrated Medicine & Surgery team as a Therapy Assistant. Experience in a healthcare setting is essential for this post. The successful candidate will be part of a large, busy acute Medicine and Surgery team located at Stepping Hill Hospital.
Main duties of the job
You will be expected to work within a multi-disciplinary team supporting holistic treatments to patients under the guidance of a qualified Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist. There will also be an administrative part of the role which includes recording statistics, documenting in medical notes, maintaining stock levels, and ordering equipment.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to demonstrate an adaptable approach. You will be given the opportunity to develop your clinical skills through the delivery of a wide range of evidence based treatments and a robust in service training programme and supervision.

Person Specification
Essential Education & Qualifications
* G.C.S.E. English
* Fluency in spoken English
* GCSE Maths
Knowledge
* Understand the day-to-day role of a Therapy Assistant
* Awareness of the roles of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Speech and Language Therapists
* NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualifications
Experience
* Previously worked in Healthcare/Allied Health Professional setting
Skills & Abilities
* Team Worker
* Flexible and adaptable
* Able to work under supervision, accepting direction
* Awareness of cultural diversity, disability impairment and equality issues
* Awareness of own limitations and when to seek support from a qualified therapist

* Able to tolerate sustained physical effort for the majority of duties (e.g moving and handling patients)
