Job overview
We are recruiting for a BCSP Specialist Screening Practitioner who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
This is an exciting time to join our team as we continue to age extend to deliver bowel cancer screening to those aged between 50-74. In addition to this, the programme takes responsibility for the surveillance of those with a diagnosis of Lynch syndrome surveillance.
You need to be a motivated, enthusiastic individual who will help provide high standards of evidence-based care within this national programme.
Core hours would be 08:00am – 18:00 over three Hospital sites so travel between all sites will be necessary.

Main duties of the job
The BCSP Specialist Screening Practitioner will participate as a member of the nursing and multi-disciplinary team, providing high standards of evidence-based care for the National Bowel Cancer Screening programme here at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust.
You will work collaboratively with the screening hub and provide specialist advice, support, and continuity of patient care throughout the patient pathway from admission to discharge. You will provide and lead excellent Nurse led clinic to patients and their family/carers.
You will co-ordinate and ensure the efficient organisation of the screening service working within BCSP National and Trust guidelines and protocols.
You will also provide support and guidance on a day-to-day basis to the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme Manager and Administrators.

Person specification
Education
* GCSE Maths and English or equivalent
* RGN or 2nd Level.
* Evidence of ongoing education.
* Counselling skills.
* Breaking Bad News
* A recognised Teaching and Assessing course
Experience
* At least 2 years post registration experience
* Evidence of participation in audit
* Evidence of having been responsible for day to day co-ordination of staff in a clinical setting.
* Experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist or Specialist Screening Practitioner
* Presentation Skills
Skills
* Patient examination and history taking
* Ability to organise and prioritise own workload
* Ability to maintain accurate records
* Excellent command of spoken and written English
* Advanced patient examination and history taking

Knowledge
* Knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the lower GI tract.
