An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Registered Mental Health Nurse to undertake the role of a Band 7 Ward Manager on St David's Unit within the Mental Health Unit, Royal Glamorgan Hospital.
The suitable individual must have post registration experience at Band 6.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills are required, as well as leadership and organisational skills. Negotiation and mediation skills are also necessary along with the ability to multi-task.
Evidence of continuing professional development is required and you must have a commitment to teaching.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will carry twenty-four hour continuing responsibility for the management of their respective ward. They will be highly experienced in inpatient mental health nursing. The post holder will be responsible for delivering a quality nursing service to all patients in their care, ensuring that all resources are used to optimum effect. They will be responsible for the devising and implementation of policies and procedures for their ward, which will ensure the highest standards of patient care within existing/current resources and which will ensure the highest standards and mission of the UHB. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the safety and welfare of staff through the observance and implementation of Health and Safety Policies and also assist them in identifying and achieving training and developmental needs through the implementation of UHB policies and procedures. They will have a continuing responsibility for the management and the delivery of a 10 bedded mixed gendered psychiatric ward ensuring effective and efficient use of resources. They will assist the Senior Nurse in developing systems and processes to monitor quality of care, adherence to UHB policies and procedures, and clinical practice. They will deputise as necessary for the Senior Nurse and maximise the performance of all staff within delegated areas.
