Lead Maintenance Engineer
Salary: £55,682.71 per annum
Working Pattern: 4 on 4 off rolling rota - 42 hours working 12 hour shift from 06.00-18.00 or 18.00 – 06.00
Purpose of the Role
To be the first point of contact for maintenance requirements on shift and to lead the shift Maintenance activities. Responsible for internal & External Preventative, Reactive and Corrective maintenance work on the plant equipment. In order to continuously improve machine reliability, availability & capacity, to manufacturing standards.
Working with third party equipment suppliers to ensure all maintenance activities are in line with agreed SLA’s and there is a clear understanding of supplier maintenance activities vs. in house maintenance.
Main responsibilities:
1. Lead the shift maintenance team, providing both a reactive and pro-active, highly skilled maintenance service on all operational equipment and facilities infrastructure.
2. Follow and complete (signing off) planned maintenance (PMs, RMs & CMs) via a Computer Maintenance Management System and oversee the adherence and timely completion of work carried out.
3. Increase the site operational effectiveness, improve on project delivery, mean time between failure and downtime reduction, and manage and implement improvement plans, driving Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to.
4. Actively participate in Projects, continuous improvement and modern manufacturing principles by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes.
5. Assist in the administration of the CMMS (Frontline) to ensure its accuracy at all times. Frontline to be used for all maintenance and stock activities.
6. Liaise with external contractors for reactive maintenance and to schedule planned service maintenance. Request & check RAMS, induct personnel, provide permits to work and oversee contractor works onsite to ensure work is carried out safely.
7. Support the growth and technical learning of the maintenance Development function, through mentoring, knowledge share and generating learning material such as codes of practice, as appropriate.
8. Liaise with the SHEQ team to resolve H&S, environmental, internal audits, GMP, COSHH and ISO quality issues. Ensure all compliance checks are complete and correctly filed, with the site operating in full compliance with UK regulations and Global manufacturing standards.
9. Attend all nominated training modules as necessary.
10. Travel and work between sites as and when required.
Essential criteria for the role:
1. Single skilled maintenance engineer (Mechanical/Electrical) qualifications.
2. Previous maintenance experience in a heavy industrial or waste environment – 5 years.
3. Experience leading a multidiscipline team.
4. IOSH – Working Safely.
5. Permit to work, LOTO.
6. Problem solving and fault diagnosis techniques.
7. Effective communication, planning & organisation.
8. Analysis & Problem solving.
9. Knowledge of various mechanical drive arrangements, including simplex, duplex, chain, belt, gearboxes and transmission equipment.
10. Hold a valid driving licence.
11. Experience of driving forklift trucks, MEWP, confined space and working at height.
12. Previous mechanical and electronic maintenance experience – 5 years.
13. Familiarity with continuous improvement (CI) – Lean, Kan Ban, OEE, TOC and other activities.
14. Third party on site management.
15. Engineering best practice.
