Join Vax’s Research and Development team, the experienced group of engineers create, test and implement new technologies that turn ideas into reality. The Vax R&D placement offers a unique opportunity to work right at the front end of technology development for an iconic British brand, whilst experiencing the entire product development process as new concepts are followed through to production. From day one, the successful candidate will use their scientific and engineering knowledge, along with their inquisitiveness and creativity, to help produce and test innovative solutions. The R&D team sits at the heart of a wider New Product Development department, meaning the successful candidate will also gain valuable insight into all the other disciplines involved in bringing a new product to market, such as industrial design, electrical engineering and product quality. What will a day in an R&D Placement look like Developing new concepts, designs and technologies through brainstorming, sketching and CAD development Use practical skills in Vax’s workshops to build first-off prototypes to test ideas Plan and execute practical testing to quantitatively assess new concepts Use their theoretical understanding, data analysis, and results from simulation and modelling to predict system behaviour Assist in applying Vax’s project management process for R&D projects Communicate project progress and findings through supporting and leading presentations to senior R&D Engineers and NPD management Why Should I Work at Vax? You should be looking for a year placement for your 3rd or 4th year of a relevant science/engineering/product degree, ideally Mechanical Engineering or product design engineering On track for a 2:1 or above Good A-level or equivalent qualifications, including maths and a physical science subject Some work experience and/or extra-curricular activity in a relevant engineering or science-based sector would be desired What Skills and Experience are valuable to Vax?
