About the role An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Library Assistant (Evening and Weekend Supervisor) to join our friendly team at the Bodleian Social Science Library. In this role, you will oversee front-line activities in one of Oxford’s busiest lending and reference libraries during the busy academic terms and Easter Vacation period. Your tasks will include: working at the issue desk, assisting readers, re-shelving returned books, and answering enquiries received in the library email account. Reporting to the Reader Services Librarian, you will supervise library assistants on duty and will be responsible for the library’s closing routine. This is a permanent, part-time post, working 16 hours per week in University Term-Time (weeks 0-9), as well as 8 hours per week hours on Sundays during the Easter Vacation (except Easter Sunday itself). This role requires lifting and carrying books and journals. About You You will be reliable and punctual and have a demonstrable commitment to providing excellent customer service. You will also have good IT and communication skills and be able to work as part of a team. You will have previous experience of working in a library or similar customer service environment. Experience of supervising colleagues is desirable.
