The radiology nursing team provide an extensive range of cover throughout the radiology department, in the Angio lab, CT, ultrasound and day case units within radiology at both HRI and CRH.
The nursing team assist the radiologist with interventional radiological procedures, from diagnostic to therapeutic. This includes assisting with a biopsy or drain in ultrasound or CT, and being the scrubbing nurse during a vascular case.
Main duties of the job
* Providing care for patients from admission to discharge in the radiology day case units.
* Assist the radiologist with CT and ultrasound, biopsies, drains and aspirations.
* Act as a scrub or circulating nurse in the angio lab during more complex interventional radiology procedures.
* Carry out pre-assessments.
* Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care, escalating concerns to relevant practitioners.
* Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide patient-centered care.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* 1st Level Registration with NMC in the relevant field.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* Willingness to undertake any training relevant to the post.
Experience
* Relevant experience in the field applied for.
* Experience working with patients and families from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
* Ability to work self-directed or as part of a team.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* Competence in medical devices and other specialist competencies for the area of specialism within 12 months of taking up the post.
* Completion of a leadership course.
* SLIP or equivalent.
* Willingness to undertake ALS/ILS.
* Competence in venepuncture and cannulation.
* Specialist skills relevant to the work area, e.g., Radiology/Catheter Lab, Theatre Scrub, and Recovery experience.
Communication
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to liaise at all levels.
* Ability to work under pressure.
* Flexibility to meet the needs of the service.
* Evidence of introducing change and innovation into nursing practice.

Salary: £29,970 to £36,483 per annum, pro rata.
