Job Title: Deputy Manager – Children’s Residential Home Location: Dorking, Surrey Salary: £40,000 - £43,000 per annum (dependent on experience) Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people? An award-winning local authority is seeking a Deputy Manager for a brand-new, state-of-the-art children’s home in Dorking. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of the home, supporting children and young people aged 8–18 with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD) and complex needs, helping them achieve stability and reach their full potential. About the Role: As Deputy Manager, you will work closely with the Registered Manager to lead a dedicated team in providing high-quality care and support to the children and young people. This role offers the opportunity to influence the development of the home from the ground up, ensuring a nurturing, therapeutic, and safe environment for the residents. Working hours for this role are Monday to Friday, 9 am – 5 pm, with on-call duties as required. There may also be occasional weekend work to meet the needs of the home. Key responsibilities include: Supporting the Registered Manager in the daily running of the home, ensuring compliance with Ofsted regulations and Children’s Homes Regulations. Supervising and mentoring the care team to deliver exceptional, child-centered support. Building strong, trusting relationships with children and young people, supporting their emotional, social, and educational development. Leading on care plans, risk assessments, and interventions tailored to individual needs. Taking on management duties in the Registered Manager’s absence, ensuring smooth operations. Essential Criteria: Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent). Working towards or willing to complete the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a children’s residential care setting. At least 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience. Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and experience supporting young people with EBD and complex needs. Strong communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
