About the job Job summary The SFO is a unique law enforcement agency, tackling some of the most serious and organised economic crime nationally and internationally. This is an exciting opportunity as a senior leader to deliver on the Directors priorities including improving partnership working, progressing cases more efficiently, and helping develop and increase the agencies proactive capacity and capability. This role offers the opportunity to enhance and shape a more proactive approach within the SFOs Intelligence Division, with a remit to identify and develop potential cases utilising a range of tactics, both reactive and proactive. As a Principal Intelligence Officer, you will have responsibility for ensuring the oversight of a team of Intelligence Officers, collecting, evaluating, analysing, triaging and disseminating information in line with the National Intelligence Model. As well as overseeing the progression of intelligence development operations. You will hold and integral role in the SFOs Intelligence Division, helping support the SFOs Mission to investigate and prosecute the most complex cases of fraud, bribery and corruption As a condition of appointment, the successful candidate must be prepared to undergo developed vetting. Job description As a Principal Intelligence Officer, you will be responsible for: Providing leadership and direction to a team of intelligence officers, displaying the highest professional standards, providing mentoring/coaching, guidance and support in order to maximise their development, efficiency and effectiveness. Overseeing intelligence collection and case progression for multiple high end and complex offences of fraud, bribery, and corruption, providing advice and direction to fulfil identified intelligence gaps using a wide range of covert and overt methods. Developing and maintaining processes, intelligence products, and other core intelligence functions to assist decision making, identifying and managing threat, risk and harm, and ensuring compliance with national standards and relevant legislation. Collating and validating intelligence, evaluating the reliability of particular sources and the credibility of the information with a view to assisting in the strategic direction of the office. Building up accurate and comprehensive intelligence pictures, which identify potential areas of interest for the SFO, seeking clarification, obtaining more material or making further enquiries where necessary. Receiving and assessing information on the intelligence system and disseminating to relevant parties, in line with confidentiality, sensitivity and duty of care policies and relevant legislation to ensure intelligence is processed correctly. Delivering information in formal reports and desk-level briefings to operational case teams and the SFO senior leadership team. Presenting intelligence cases at the Tactical Tasking and Co-ordination Group or Case Evaluation Boards. Maintaining awareness of innovation within intelligence to ensure implementation of latest techniques and tactics, best practice, and information relevant to the role. Developing strong working relationships with internal stakeholders to understand their specific intelligence requirements and promoting intelligence and evidential gathering opportunities. Liaising and collaborating with bodies across the public and private sectors (including other government agencies and relevant police forces) in order to collect information which may further enhance the intelligence picture.
