Position Overview: Convatec is looking for a highly motivated Commercial Lawyer to join the legal team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in supporting Convatec’s continued successful growth. Your Key Responsibilities will include : • Providing accurate and timely legal advice to stakeholders across the business on a variety of commercial matters, including coordinating closely with other business areas such as Compliance, Treasury, Tax, Finance, and HR. • Acting as legal lead to draft, review and negotiate a range of commercial contracts to support the organization across the UK and Europe (working with local counsel as appropriate), including indirect and direct procurement agreements, distribution agreements and wholesale agreements. • Collaborating with cross-functional legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards. • Driving efficiencies and consistent best practices across the legal function, including contributing to know-how and maintenance of template agreements. • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to support the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies and procedures and drive legal initiatives. • Reviewing sales and marketing materials to ensure legal compliance. • Managing external counsel including effective budget management. • Supporting ongoing training and preparation of educational resources to promote legal awareness and compliance within the organization. We are looking for the following in our successful candidate : • 2-5 years PQE with a track record of delivering high quality work and ability to prioritise through excellent organisation and ability to understand key business drivers. • In-house experience; either through a permanent role or a significant period on secondment desirable. • Experience operating in an international context, through law firm engagement or as part of a multinational corporate organisation. • Strong technical legal skills, with experience in a broad range of commercial contracts, highly solutions-focused and agile, able to see the bigger picture. • Exercises strong commercial judgement, through a considered approach which anticipates the needs of the business and appropriate weighs benefits and risk. • Tech-savvy and demonstrates an interest in adopting legal tech tools to increase efficiency and impact across the organization. • Creates a sense of purposes or vision for self, group or team, demonstrating a strong team-orientated and collaborative mind-set. • A motivated self-starter, comfortable taking the initiative and leading on issues, and the ambition to develop an in-house career within a general counsel function. • Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. • Experience within the medical devices sector is desirable but not essential.
