About the Team The Growth Strategy and Coordination Team supports HMT’s objective to ensure strong growth and competitiveness across all regions of the UK. It leads on growth strategy and co-ordinates HMT’s work on the pro-growth agenda. The team also has responsibility for cross-cutting supply-side policy including competition, markets, regulation and consumer affairs. About the Job In this role, you will:· Conduct independent research on pro-growth policies (including productivity/supply-side policy). · Provide complex, novel and innovative solutions which will shape medium to long term impacts to your work.· Advise ministers and senior officials on growth strategy. · Represent HMT in engagement with business, academia and colleagues across HMT, Whitehall, and outside government. · Be a lead architect to shape, organise, and collate EGU’s work on growth priorities and policies. · Play a proactive and lead role in the delivery of fiscal events and other significant growth moments. · As a subject matter expert lead and embed a collaborative approach with colleagues (HMT and X-Gov) to help bolster their growth analysis/thinking.· Work closely with EGU SCS to co-ordinate and sequence the Group’s work across the growth programme. This is a fast paced, stretching role at the heart of shaping the government’s growth strategy. Growth is a top political priority and to reflect this HMT has bolstered its central growth strategy and coordination function, which is now being established as an independent permanent team. The postholder will play a central role in organising and shaping HMT’s work on the pro-growth agenda. The role involves engaging widely across HMT, other government departments, academia, and business to develop growth policies and provide well-informed advice to ministers. About YouThis role sits under the ‘Growth Strategy, Coordination and Delivery’ side of the team. The successful candidate will be delivering and coordinating pro-growth work, engaging colleagues across HMT and in other government departments for fiscal and other significant growth events. This role would suit candidates who are motivated by seeking out innovative ideas to drive growth in the UK and are interested in leading, organising, shaping, and drawing together a range of work in the Group and more widely. There will be many opportunities to work closely with ministers and senior officials, both within HMT and across government.
