Location: Southampton + International Travel to Events
Our client is an international event operations agency working with high-profile clients to deliver large-scale, complex events worldwide. We are seeking an experienced Shore Based Logistics professional - Crane Manager / Yard Manager to join our team, overseeing crane operations at global events for one of our prestigious clients. This role requires extensive experience in crane management, event logistics, and health and safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Event:
1. Collaborate with the event operations team to determine technical site specifications.
2. Assist in sourcing crane suppliers and ensure the correct cranes are selected based on event requirements.
3. Work closely with the client’s Global Health and Safety Manager to establish and implement Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) specific to crane operations.
4. Coordinate crane mobilization dates and schedules with the event operations team and crane suppliers.
During Event:
1. Serve as the on-site point of contact for crane suppliers and operators.
2. Oversee crane operations, ensuring safe lifting practices, setting up crane zones, barricades, and removing hazards.
3. Lead mandatory Crane Briefings and pre-lift briefings at the start of each day.
4. Communicate daily schedules, lifting plans, and weather updates with the crane operator and event control teams.
5. Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, including the use of PPE, clearances, and site-specific controls.
6. Manage public and guest movement around the crane zone outside of lifting windows to ensure a safe environment.
7. Adapt the lifting schedule as needed to accommodate dynamic changes during the event.
Post-Event:
1. Collaborate with the client’s Global Health and Safety Manager to review performance and implement any necessary improvements.
2. Revise crane operation SOPs as needed and assist in selecting crane suppliers for future events.
Requirements:
1. Proven experience as a Crane Manager or Yard Manager in large-scale events or similar operational environments.
2. Strong knowledge of crane safety regulations, operating procedures, and risk management.
3. Experience in leading crane safety briefings and managing crane teams on-site.
4. Ability to adapt to dynamic and high-pressure event environments while managing complex schedules.
5. Excellent leadership and communication skills.
6. Flexibility to travel internationally for event-related assignments.
