Main duties of the job
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, experienced band 5 nurse to join the cardiac catheter lab day unit. The Cath Lab Day Unit is open from 07:15 to 21:00, Monday to Friday, and supports a wide range of cardiovascular and thoracic day case admissions, through recovery and nurse led discharge. This is a full-time post and there is an expectation that a full range of shifts will be undertaken to cover the service, although we are open to discussing part time hours.
Job responsibilities
What you will do: You will work as part of a MDT and will be responsible for promoting high standards of nursing care which requires good communication to assist with the elective patient journey through the catheter labs and theatres. You will be caring for a range of patients undergoing a wide variety of procedures from admission, pre and post procedure care, GA recovery, and nurse led discharge. This will include cardiology, vascular, IR and thoracic patients and full training will be given in these specialities. The cardiac catheter lab and day unit is committed to education, and you will have the opportunity to attend the in-house Introduction to Cardiovascular Nursing course in addition to the opportunity to attend national conferences relating to Cardiology.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
* Qualified Nurse (Degree/Diploma)
* Registered nurse on appropriate part of the register
* Knowledge of current issues within acute Health Service
* Understanding of personal accountability
* Knowledge of own role within the team
* Provide evidence of teaching and supporting learners in practice in the role of practice supervisor
* Awareness of evidence-based practice
* Awareness of responsibilities for management of infection control
* Evidence of on-going personal development
* Able to use initiative
* Evidence of recent study
* Previous experience/qualification in relevant specialty
* Teaching experience
