The Governors of Pershore High School wish to appoint a strong and confident leader to the position of Deputy Headteacher – Pastoral. The Deputy Headteacher will have responsibility for ensuring the school delivers the highest quality of pastoral care, safeguarding and support for staff and students. Demonstrating a passion for individual personal development, the post holder will foster a culture of high standards and positive outcomes for all, regardless of their starting points or abilities. Responsible for the school’s pastoral system, the post holder will line manage a team which includes: the Assistant Headteacher (Behaviour & Wider Curriculum), Heads of House, Designated Safeguarding Lead, SENCO, Pupil Premium Co-ordinator, Attendance Team and Head of PHSE/Careers. Through accurate and perceptive pastoral data analysis, the Deputy Headteacher will contribute to the School Development Plan, resulting in measurable impacts on student outcomes. The post holder will report on all aspects of the pastoral system to the Leadership Team, Governors and Trustees. The Deputy Headteacher (Pastoral) will chair the weekly Safeguarding Briefing and line manage some Heads of Department.
Our supportive and dedicated Leadership Team currently consists of an Executive Headteacher/CEO, Head of School, Deputy Headteacher – Teaching & Learning/Curriculum, Assistant Headteacher – Behaviour and Wider Curriculum, Assistant Headteacher – Data & Systems and an extended leadership team post: Head of Maths/RSL Core Subjects.
We currently have 1127 students on roll in Years 7-13 of which 202 are on the SEND Register, 31 of whom have EHCPs. This includes 14 students who are part of our Mainstream Autism Base (MAB). In addition, 19% of students are in receipt of the Pupil Premium Grant. Our school is steadily growing, and student numbers are predicted to rise further in the next few years.
The school is part of the DfE School Rebuilding Programme and work will start in summer 2025 to create a new £25 million building, providing significant enhancement to our facilities. This will allow the school to take a full cohort of Year 7 students from September 2027.
