Contract: Full time & Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday (40 hours) but we will consider Part time hours for the right candidate

About the Role
The Electrical Design Engineer will ensure that works are designed to minimize risks during the construction, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning/demolition phases, with responsibility to ensure that all designs meet regulatory, statutory, client, and industry requirements.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an Electrical Designer to join a dynamic, ambitious, growing business within the Electrical Power sector who works with Commercial, Industrial, and Residential clients based in Glasgow, with sites across the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Initial and ongoing liaison with the client to establish the design parameters.
2. Liaising with the DNO and adopting IDNO to obtain design approval.
3. Establish sufficient relevant information to carry out risk assessments in relation to the network type and construction methods to be incorporated into the design.
4. Design and develop electrical network and create detailed electrical schematics and diagrams.
5. Design the network using design tools such as AutoCAD / Windebut / Castline, selecting the correct demand/voltage and thus the network routing, terminations, and any requirement for switchgear etc.
6. Maintaining a record of the progress of each design project in respect of design progress, communication, and notices/applications/forms etc.
7. Ensure design is legally compliant and if third-party land access is required provide information to allow wayleaves/servitudes to be agreed.
8. Stay up to date with advancements in electrical engineering and incorporate new technologies into designs.
9. Strong skills in reviewing and checking designs and drawings for accuracy and buildability.
10. Create & deliver the information required to make clients aware of their responsibilities.
11. Carry out a hand-over meeting and provide operations with enough information to execute the work safely.
12. Respond to requests for variations to the design and process these in accordance with agreed procedures.
13. Produce cost estimates in line with current commercial procedures.
Electrical Design Engineer – Skills & Experience:
1. Electrical Qualification (HNC in Electrical Engineering or Equivalent)
2. MIET membership
3. Relevant Electrical Industry experience for the last 3 years working as a Design Engineer on HV & LV Distribution Networks.
4. The Designer must have relevant experience in the UK market within the last 5 years with a DNO, IDNO, ICP, or UCP.
5. LV/HV Design Engineers Course – Contestable Electrical Connections Work
6. Good Working Knowledge of the Electrical Contestable Market & Regulations
7. Knowledge of the Electricity at Work Regulations
8. Design experience- Underground Cables/Primary & Secondary Substations along with EV
9. Experience & Knowledge of Autocad / Windebut / Castline or similar
10. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
11. Experience with technical documentation and reporting.
12. Ability to provide technical support and guidance.
13. Full Driving Licence.
