Our client owns and operates regulated and non-regulated multi-utility networks across the UK. With sites in MediaCityUK, Liverpool Waters, and Canary Wharf, their broad range of capabilities includes electricity, water and wastewater, alongside heating, cooling, and hot water services.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a dynamic business development manager who will be working directly with Developers and Independent Connection Providers (ICPs) to grow the business by adopting utility networks installed on new developments. You will manage commercial risk and work closely with all stakeholders and key decision-makers at all management levels.
Key Responsibilities
1. Building and developing relationships with Developers, Independent Connection Providers (ICPs), Self-Lay Providers (SLP), and M&E consultants both new and existing.
2. Accountable for building out the sales pipeline through prospecting and networking.
3. Working with the wider Business Development (BD) team to develop sales and marketing growth strategies and plans.
4. Negotiating with Business Owners/Directors/Finance/Procurement/Energy Managers to maximise commercial terms.
5. Manage end-to-end sales process, from prospecting through to operations handover.
6. Working closely with the operations team to understand client requirements and potential solutions for project delivery.
7. Attend seminars, conferences, and events where appropriate.
8. Use of social media platforms to help with brand awareness.
About You
1. Previous sales experience and understanding of the NAV/IDNO/DNO market.
2. Excellent communication skills.
3. IT skills, competent in Microsoft Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Excel.
4. The ability to build relationships with people at all levels and manage stakeholders.
5. Strong problem-solving and creative skills.
6. An ability to stay calm under pressure and keep to deadlines.
7. Strong sales and negotiation techniques.
8. A solid knowledge in electrical & water networks.
9. Awareness of commercial risk and experience of mitigating risks.
10. A flexible approach to travel, work location, and hours.
