World Class Defence Organisation is currently looking to recruit an Information Systems Solution Analyst subcontractor on an initial 12 month contract. The company has sites in Stevenage, Bristol and Bolton. The roles will be a split of working from home and onsite from either Stevenage, Bristol and Bolton (depending on your choice). The role will be working from home 80% of the time.
Contract Duration: 12 Months initially and then ongoing.
Hourly Rate: £53.00ph (Umbrella)
Information Systems Solution Analyst Job Description:
Information Management (IM), defines implements and adapts Information Technology (IT) infrastructure and Information Systems (IS) strategy to the needs of the business and users. Within Information Management, the Information Systems teams have responsibilities for supporting and deploying business applications, with IS Engineering supporting a key pillar of our business.
The IS Engineering Solutions team work as part of IS to support programmes and transformation activities.
Responsibilities:
The IS Engineering Solutions team supports the contribution to the Future Cruise Anti-Ship Weapon (FC/ASW) programme, an international programme to deliver a new missile. The team supports the programme through collaboration with key partners in UK Defence and abroad, as well as looking at the internal state of the IM systems to meet the needs and new ways of working FC/ASW will deliver. The IS Engineering Solution Architect will cover both of these key activities working within an established team to prioritise and deliver improvements to our Engineering toolsets.
1. Assess Needs/Ideas according to the IM End to End Process as Technical Expert or apply the equivalent agile techniques adopted in the programme. Ensuring, and maturing the quality of the Scope, Feasibility and Business Case.
2. Provide Systems Engineering processes/lifecycle subject matter expertise and advice at all stages.
Key Responsibilities
1. Assist with the development and validation of requirements.
2. Build an understanding of the interaction between tools and business processes.
3. Map process and engineering data against the relevant application sets.
4. Kick-off the scoping phase of solutions.
5. Monitor solutions against the needs of internal stakeholders.
6. Understand the impact of proposed changes for business teams and processes.
7. Ensure the solutions as deployed meet the organisational needs.
8. Assist in the creation of a feasible project.
9. Provide subject matter expertise for risks, issues and opportunities.
The role is primarily aligned with the needs of the Programmes as assigned and will have accountabilities and responsibilities in support of those programme needs.
Skillset/Experience Required:
Understanding of:
* Essential: Developing requirements and scoping systems and services.
* Advantageous: Mapping Business or Engineering processes to applications.
* Advantageous: The lifecycle of information systems including acquisition and development of new technology, with a view on new and emerging digital opportunities which would be transformative.
* Advantageous: Experience in the integration of disparate and distributed solutions in a defence environment.
* Advantageous: Systems Engineering processes/lifecycle and of the lifecycle of information systems including acquisition and development of new technology.
Proven ability to talk to stakeholders, develop requirements, analyse or create processes, research solutions, assess compliance and make recommendations. Experience in Systems and Software engineering practices and standards. Able to review, redefine and reengineer processes. Aware of SQL, DB2, ORACLE, Active Directory, Virtual Machines, WebSphere, Windows Servers, Unix and equivalents.
