The Virtual School Kent Participation Team has a vacancy for a full-time Participation Support Officer within Children’s Countywide Services.
The Participation Team has responsibilities to support and encourage meaningful participation and engagement of children and young people who are in care, young care leavers, or who come under other VSK specified cohorts across Integrated Children’s Services.
This is an exciting role that helps ensure that children and young people have a variety of mechanisms to share their views and opinions. The post holder will need to be able to support them to take part in a range of activities and participatory opportunities that are available to them, as well as supporting the work of the Participation Team ensuring that young people’s views are embedded in Service design and delivery.
The role will also involve supporting the Participation Team’s Apprentices to ensure that they receive a high level of supervision and guidance to be successful in areas of their job role and apprenticeship qualification.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
Please note that this role is mainly office based in Whitstable and includes travelling to different parts of the county to support children and young people.
