An exciting opportunity has arisen for a deputy clinical leader within the Stroke Unit at Royal Bournemouth Hospital. The post holder will have experience within the field of Stroke and demonstrate high standards of patient care and clinical expertise within a Stroke Specialty. They will be expected to provide a high-quality service for patients and their families to meet the Trust objectives, Unit policies and standards.
Furthermore, they will participate with the Clinical Leaders in the organisation and management of the Unit using available resources effectively and efficiently. They will take responsibility for the Unit in the absence of the Clinical Leaders as well as supervise and teach qualified and unqualified staff, whilst maintaining their own professional development and promoting research-based practices. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate excellent leadership and organisational skills; the Stroke unit is a busy and demanding area.
This role requires an active UK NMC Registration.

Main duties of the job
* To provide nursing expertise, facilitate evidence-based patient care.
* To support the Trust strategy of delivering a quality healthcare service for patients and their families.
* To work within and to support the Trust objectives and the ward department philosophy and standards.
* To supervise and direct junior staff, to act as a resource to provide education and training, which may include members of the multi-disciplinary team.
* You may be required to take charge of the ward area in the absence of Ward Manager/deputies.

* Demonstrable clinical experience

* Demonstrable ability with vital signs monitoring equipment and ability to recognise the deteriorating patient
* Non-IV and IV medication administration including administration of blood products
* Calculation of drug doses for infusions requiring frequent concentration
