Are you passionate about sports and supporting young people in overcoming challenges? We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and compassionate Sports Coach to join a dedicated team within a specialist secondary SEMH provision in Darwen. This is a temporary full-time role, where you'll play a key part in promoting physical activity, building confidence, and encouraging positive behaviour in young people aged 10-16.
About the Role:
In this role, you'll support students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs by delivering engaging and motivating sports sessions that promote teamwork, resilience, and well-being. You will be working closely with a team of experienced staff to help manage challenging behaviours and provide positive, consistent support in a safe and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver engaging sports sessions tailored to the needs of the students.
* Build positive relationships with students, encouraging their participation and growth in sports and physical activity.
* Support the development of social skills and teamwork through group activities.
* Work alongside staff to manage challenging behaviour and ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
* Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to the team.
* Maintain a positive and inclusive approach, adapting your coaching style to meet individual needs.
What We’re Looking For:
* Experience working with children or young people, preferably in an SEMH or similar setting.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students.
* A passion for sports and physical activity, with the ability to motivate and inspire others.
* Patience, resilience, and a calm approach to managing challenging behaviours.
* A flexible and proactive attitude to support the diverse needs of the students.
