We are looking for Teaching Assistants to work at a school for learners with Autism and other complex needs in the North West Leeds area. (Generally easy to reach on public transport)
A specialist school in North and West Leeds is looking for Teaching Assistants to join a dedicated team of highly skilled Teachers and Learning Support staff. Pupils are supported by an experienced pastoral team comprising communication & interaction leaders, Pastoral & Family Support Officers, and Behaviour Support Workers. All staff work closely with families and the local community to offer pupils the best opportunities possible. Many learners have a diagnosis of Autism and associated conditions; however, this is by no means all the learners, and there are a wide range of differing needs in both Primary and Secondary areas of school. Generally, class sizes vary between 6 to 9 learners.
Main Duties:
1. To work under the direct instruction of teaching & senior staff, mainly in the classroom with the Teacher.
2. To support access to learning for pupils and provide general support to the Teacher in managing pupils and the classroom environment.
3. Provide general support to staff and pupils, including preparation and routine maintenance of resources/equipment.
4. To develop knowledge, skills, and understanding of requirements for effective support in a SEN setting.
The ideal person:
1. We are seeking skilled, enthusiastic people who are willing to learn.
2. You will need to be flexible and adaptable, a good communicator, cheerful, calm, and work as part of the team.
3. You will have (or be willing to obtain) an enhanced Child & Adult Workforce DBS, maintained on the update service.
In return we will offer:
1. A commitment to your professional development.
2. Strong, supportive leadership and staff.
3. Wonderful pupils who will reward you with many memories that will last throughout your entire career.
