Job Description
Overview:
Axis is a family-run business and an exciting company to work for, with R&D at its forefront. Due to an ever-growing order book and continual research and development projects, we wish to recruit a Mechanical Engineering Fitter to our team.
The successful candidate will work as part of the Implementation Team, responsible for the manufacture and assembly of our Mushroom harvesting equipment. The role includes working with the Design Team on R&D projects to further our current product range, bringing new products to market. The successful candidate must be willing and able to travel internationally as required, depending on the project and customer site location.
Main Responsibilities:
* Manufacture and assembly of Axis Harvesting systems
* Installation, commissioning, and maintenance of systems on customer sites (Internationally as required)
* Post-installation customer support and troubleshooting
* Work with Design Engineers and contribute to streamline the assembly of machines
* Liaise with the R&D team to refine and extend our product range
* Participate in R&D projects, contributing to the design, production, and testing of new products and concepts
Essential Skills and Requirements:
* A commitment to maintaining a safe working environment
* Permanent eligibility to work in The United Kingdom
* Willingness and ability to travel
* Precision engineering experience
* Read detailed engineering drawings for manufacture
* Experience in sheet metal/stainless/aluminium fabrication
* Maintain technical specifications
* Demonstrable relevant expertise
* Ability to improve products or services by applying professional knowledge
* Strong attention to detail
* Good organisational and time management skills
* Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
* Ability to build, install, and commission our current products
* Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
* Work on own initiative and as part of a team
* Overtime as required to meet project deadlines
* An awareness of general Health and Safety regulations
* Hold a full UK driving license
Desirable Skills and Requirements:
* Electrical engineering
* CAD Drawing and Solidworks Modelling experience
* Welding and Fabrication experience (stainless, TIG, MIG, Manual Arc etc)
Qualifications and Experience:
* Relevant certifications or qualifications in an engineering field
* Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineering Fitter in a similar environment
* Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
* Good communication and teamwork skills
Hours of Work:
* Monday to Thursday 8am – 5pm
* Friday 8am – 1pm
* Hours/days may vary when on-site installation
