Job Purpose
Reporting to the Non-Infrastructure Drainage Delivery Manager within Wastewater Network, Wastewater Services, you will provide an efficient and effective Electrical and (Mechanical/Instrumentation) maintenance service to optimise the day-to-day performance of all the Powered assets within defined geographical areas to achieve the quality, performance and safety standards of United Utilities. You will undertake reactive, planned and proactive fault identification, investigation and analysis to establish the root cause of faults, and carry out the necessary work to ensure that the issue is resolved first time, wherever possible, whilst identifying further work and any capital funding required to avoid repeat incidents and failures at Powered assets. You will also collect Reliable, Accurate and Complete regulatory data whilst providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers, as required. You will have an awareness of the impact of your activities on the efficient expenditure of an Operational (Opex) and Capital (Capex) budget, and how your role contributes to maintaining customer satisfaction levels in a geographic area of approximately 750,000 customers (domestic and commercial).
Job Accountabilities
Ensuring compliance with United Utilities Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times, you will be accountable for ensuring that the correct electrical and (Instrumentation/Mechanical) maintenance activities are undertaken within agreed timescales at all powered sites within defined geographical areas. You will also be accountable for:
* Responding to reactive incidents e.g. alarms, customer calls and field notifications on standby, and carry out the first call response on all powered assets.
* Assisting the Network Asset Controller in reviewing and amending the appropriate telemetry alarm level settings at powered assets, as required.
* Liaising with the Network Asset Controller and ensuring that all electrical and mechanical assets at each powered asset/site facility are registered correctly on United Utilities corporate system at all times.
* Ensuring that all maintenance data recorded is reliable, accurate and complete at all times.
* Ensuring that all powered assets are compliant with their regulatory Environment Agency (EA) permit conditions at all times.
* Proactively looking at ways of reducing the number of repeat failures, Pollution and/or Flooding incidents arising from electrical and (Mechanical/Instrumentation) failures at powered assets.
* Responsible for acting as the Person Controlling the Works (PCW) for all electrical work being completed on site by Framework Contractors, ensuring that the work is completed safely, correctly, on time and within budget.
* Assist the Network Asset Controllers in reviewing and updating the ‘Site Contingency Plans', and ensuring that the critical spares for powered assets are available at all times, as required.
* Reviewing and amending the cyclic electrical and (mechanical/Instrumentation) inspection tasks at powered assets based on the Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) principles, with the Strategic Work Planner on an ongoing basis, as required.
* Provide input into the Capital Delivery Core Team, Notice of Participants (NOP) and Section 104 site visits/meetings, as required.
* Participate on the local team's standby rota (minimum 1 in 6).
Knowledge and Skills
To succeed in this role you will need to be qualified City and Guilds or National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 3 (or equivalent) in a primary Electrical and secondary (Mechanical/Instrumentation) discipline as a minimum. You will also be time served within a primary Electrical discipline, and have received further training to a secondary (Mechanical/Instrumentation) discipline. As well as being able to demonstrate a basic maintenance understanding of the operation of powered assets, and a general understanding of wastewater network activities. You will also have:
* Information technology skills with the ability to understand United Utilities systems and their capabilities and limitations.
* Interpersonal skills in order to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers.
* Often working alone you will need to be capable of using your own initiative and have a flexible approach to highly varied workloads.

* Ability to co-ordinate framework contractors in delivering small projects and remedial works.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Knowledge of and trained in/or to British Standard 7671 Requirements for Electrical Installations, Construction Design Management (CDM) and DSEAR Awareness, New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA), Manual Handling and Confined Spaces etc, as required.
