Brief Description
The Wales & Western Capital Delivery team believe in the 'One Team' ethos. You will be working in a team that is passionate about delivering safely, efficiently and providing value for money for our passengers, train and freight operators and the taxpayer.
We have just embarked on an exciting delivery model for our next 5-year delivery period. Our portfolio is diverse, spanning Buildings & Civils, Enhancements, Track, and Signalling, Power and Communications. The projects we deliver range from major enhancements e.g., High Speed 2 Old Oak Common Station on the Great Western Mainline, to medium sized enhancements, third party funded projects, renewals, and minor works. All of these are key to keeping our railway safe and running.

You need to have 112 ACAS points to be able to apply for the scheme.
Your salary in the first year is £24,500 and will increase each year in line with Network Rail's Transparent Pay deal for your respective band bracket.
The scheme lasts for five years.

About the course
Accredited by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (CICES), the Chartered Surveyor apprenticeship will give you the degree-level expertise needed to practise as a Chartered Surveyor.
You'll benefit from the considerable experience of UWE Bristol's Chartered Surveying and Commercial Management team, which comprises of practising and recently practising surveyors and construction legal practitioners.
A mix of traditional and highly creative learning environments will enable you to learn essential knowledge and real-world skills, making you an asset to your organisation.
What you'll get out of it
After completing the course, you will have a Level 6 (Degree) Chartered Surveyor qualification (BSc), and should be well on the way to achieving full MRICS Chartered Surveyor status.
Many of our apprentices go on to hold senior positions within Network Rail. The career path for this Apprentice opportunity would be an Assistant Commercial Manager, with later career opportunities such as Commercial Manager or Contracts Manager and on to Senior Commercial Manager or Programme Commercial Manager.
The entry requirements
You need to have 112 ACAS points to be able to apply for the scheme, Grade C/4 or above in English and Mathematics, or equivalent (we accept Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths), and at least 2 A-levels (no specific subjects needed).
Your Main Responsibilities will be to:
1. Understanding and working with the systems that Network Rail uses to commercially manage its projects e.g., Oracle Projects, Monitor, Citadel, CEMAR so that they record the latest and correct information.
2. Assist in the measurement and evaluation of the commercial value of payments, monitoring the correct certification of goods, services and works prior to authorisation in accordance with the terms and conditions of the contracts.
3. Contribute to the reporting on all commercial aspects of allocated projects including budgets and control of costs.
4. Work on the preparation of pricing documents and pre-tender documentation including understanding supplier selection.
5. Assist in general commercial management on a day-to-day basis working with project teams. This will include reviewing site records to mitigate / resolve disputes.
