Join our team to design and implement structural maintenance and refurbishment on Highway Structures. Reporting to the Senior Engineer, you'll manage bridge data, emergency call-outs, NRSWA compliance, and budget control while mentoring junior staff.
The Role
1. Support Health and Safety, Environmental Management System, Quality Management System and Construction Design Management in a positive and constructive manner, with the aim of minimising work-related injuries by implementing Essex Highways policies and procedures.
2. Preparation of design, planning, programme highway structures works and services.
3. Offer advice and expertise in the delivery of work based on engineering knowledge and experience.
4. Provide timely and accurate advice to County Councillors, District Members, Parish Councils, and the public on all structures-related matters as required.
5. Understand the overall functions, aims and directions of Essex Highways, and how the structures service fits into those objectives.
6. Provide clear and effective project leadership.
7. Assist in the management and monitoring of works programmes or services.
8. Mentor junior staff in the delivery of structural design and development of highway structures schemes.
9. Assist in budgetary control and ensure that financial management is undertaken throughout areas of responsibility.
10. Prepare monthly progress reports and programme updates.
