Morson Talent are working on behalf of a major player within the Energy Sector who have a current (contract) requirement for a Technical Resolution Lead (General Mechanical/Electrical) to join their established site-based team in Somerset. This is a uniquely interesting opportunity to contribute towards one of Europe's largest infrastructure/construction Projects. Job Purpose / Overview
The successful applicant will a key member of the wider Technical Branch of the Joint Design Office [JDO] and will be part a team providing the resolution of critical emergent design issues that span several work areas. The role will give visibility to a wide variety of topics across the Project with an open remit to solve technical issues and enhance the resilience of the JDO by mitigating key project risks relating to engineering.
The JDO is also responsible for managing design changes as well as managing design configuration during construction, installation and commissioning, responsible for the management of the non-permanent design, temporary works and As-Built information.
The Technical Resolution Lead for General Mechanical and Electrical topics will help to make sure the continued delivery of technical excellence for the Project.
Framework & Boundaries
You will be responsible for management or delivery of technical solutions to emergent transverse works issues. The issues will mainly be Mechanical and Electrical engineering topics across several disciplines including Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC and Civil engineering.
The current site activities are predominantly Civil focussed with a transition into Mechanical, Electrical and HVAC focussed issues with greater safety case implications as the project progresses.
Building relationships across JDO Operational Branch, Responsible Designer, Project Managers, Contract Managers and the Construction/Installation Contractors.
Interfacing with Nuclear Services Engineering or the Project Design Authority, where necessary.
Identifying and implementing initiatives to improve project delivery.
Participation in Configuration Management Board meetings.
Contributing to the reporting of JDO KPIs.
Criteria - Primary
Typically degree qualified in engineering (Chartership of a relevant body is desirable).
Experience of leading engineers in a management or lead setting.
Good understanding of design models and engineering drawings.
Understanding of mechanical interfaces
Experience of working within a highly regulated environment (previous Nuclear Sector exposure desirable but not essential)
EPR building, plant and system knowledge is desirable.
Safety Case Knowledge and previous experience of Nuclear Safety Categorisations is desirable.
Demonstrable and effective communication and stakeholder management experience - able to liaise with a variety of stakeholders across the wider business at various management levels from mid management up to director level.
