Deputy Children's Home Manager Location: Burton-On-Trent Position Type: Permanent Salary: £38,000 Reports To: Children's Home Manager Job Overview: The Deputy Children's Home Manager will assist in the management and operation of a therapeutic children's home providing intervention and trauma support for children aged 7 to 18. The role involves ensuring high standards of care and support, promoting a positive and therapeutic environment, and assisting the Home Manager in the day-to-day running of the home. Key Responsibilities: Operational Management: - Assist the Home Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the home. - Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and company policies. - Support the implementation of therapeutic interventions and trauma-informed practices. Staff Management: - Supervise and support residential care workers and other staff members. - Assist in recruitment, training, and development of staff. - Conduct regular staff meetings and performance reviews. Child Care and Support: - Promote a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for children. - Develop and implement individualized care plans for each child. - Provide direct support and intervention to children as needed. Compliance and Quality Assurance: - Ensure the home meets all regulatory and statutory requirements. - Conduct regular audits and quality assurance checks. - Assist in the preparation for inspections and reviews. Administration: - Maintain accurate records and documentation. - Assist with budget management and resource allocation. - Report on the home's performance and development to senior management. Partnership and Collaboration: - Liaise with external agencies, including social services, healthcare providers, and educational institutions. - Foster positive relationships with the children’s families and guardians. - Represent the home in external meetings and forums. Qualifications and Experience: - A relevant qualification in social work, child care, or a related field (Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People's Services or equivalent). - Significant experience working in a children's residential setting. - Experience in therapeutic care and trauma support is highly desirable. - Proven leadership and management experience. Skills and Attributes: - Strong understanding of child development and trauma-informed care. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team effectively. - Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. - Compassionate, empathetic, and committed to the welfare of children.
