About the Company:
We are a renewable energy developer committed to working closely with landowners and local communities to expand clean energy generation. With a growing development pipeline of nearly 11GW across 80+ projects, we are seeking a Senior Development Manager to join our team. This role will focus on securing necessary permissions for renewable energy projects, including ground-mounted solar, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and wind energy.
We are looking for a self-motivated and proactive professional who can communicate effectively and build trusted relationships at all levels. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in renewable energy and a passion for leading and delivering projects.
Role Overview:
The Senior Development Manager will be responsible for managing a portfolio of development projects, overseeing the process from initiation to Ready-to-Build (RTB) status. This role requires collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Identifying and acquiring suitable land for development.
2. Leading commercial and contract negotiations (including Heads of Terms, Option Agreements, Easements, and Leases).
3. Managing project budgets, risks, and schedules.
4. Overseeing legal, permitting, and grid connection processes.
5. Coordinating with internal Grid and Planning teams.
6. Managing site surveys and project design.
7. Preparing project reports and keeping stakeholders informed.
8. Supporting project sales processes.
9. Staying up to date with industry regulations and policies affecting the renewable energy sector.
10. Addressing project challenges (technical, political, or planning-related) to ensure RTB is achieved.
Skills & Experience:
1. Proven project management experience, with a track record of delivering projects successfully.
2. Knowledge of renewable energy development processes.
3. Strong negotiation skills, particularly in land acquisition and contracts.
4. Understanding of land rights, Land Registry, and land titles.
5. Ability to engage with stakeholders and build strong professional relationships.
6. Budget management and risk assessment expertise.
7. Strong communication and report-writing skills.
8. Proficiency in Google Earth and Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Minimum 5 years of relevant experience (preferred but not essential).
2. Degree-level education in a relevant field.
3. Project management qualifications (PMQ, PRINCE2) are a plus but not required.
4. Full UK driving license.
