Job overview
Applications are invited for the position of a Band 3 Medical Secretary within the busy Neurology Department at Ysbyty Gwynedd. It is essential that applicants hold the relevant qualifications as per the person specifications; previous medical secretarial experience would be desirable, as would a high level of audio typing skills and a good telephone manner.
The successful candidate must have a good understanding of MS Office applications including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will possess excellent time management skills, be well organized, and have the ability to prioritize workload demands to meet strict deadlines while producing work to the highest standards. The post holder must also have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, using discretion, judgment, and initiative. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential together with a keen eye for detail, with the ability to process and generate urgent and routine correspondence. Candidates must be able to maintain patient confidentiality and ensure a high standard of customer care at all times. It is essential that the successful candidate has a flexible approach to work to meet the demands of the service. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

* NVQ Business administration L2 or equivalent experience or AMSPAR Level 3 Diploma in Medical administration or equivalent Medical Secretarial experience
* RSA/ OCR level 3/ ECDL or equivalent experience
* Management qualification or working towards.
* NVQ 3 Customer Service

* Experience of coordinating administration activities.
* Experience of working as a medical secretary.

* Previous NHS experience.
