Areas of special interests will be welcomed, particularly head & neck & otology.
On call duties will be 1 in 5 on call. There is the expectation of attendance at the monthly ENT meetings incorporating governance, morbidity and mortality and education.
This is a replacement post, as the result of the planned retirement of one of our senior surgeons.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will join a team of 5, mainly based at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle but with some sessions at the trust's other units in Whitehaven, Workington or Penrith. On call duties will be at Cumberland Infirmary.
We are a highly motivated and cohesive team dedicated to providing an excellent service for our patients. We have a well-developed TNO service and have recently started transnasal laryngeal biopsies in OPD. The programme of support for each individual doctor will be flexible depending on his/her particular needs and experience.
We have a strong emphasis on training and have received national awards in recognition of this. We have a strong commitment to support, mentorship and development of all of our staff and have regular multidisciplinary meetings.
Due to our location we have a number of services not normally found in hospitals of our size. We have an excellent unit that, despite being in a beautifully rural part of the UK, still regularly does major head & neck cases, including free flap surgery.
