Job Introduction
Undergraduate Industrial Placement Student - Drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics (DMPK)
Please note, this placement is only open to undergraduate students that will be in their penultimate or final year of a relevant science degree for the academic year 2025-2026.
A Pharmaron placement will provide you with the opportunity to gain work experience in a pharmaceutical research environment, and help you kickstart your career. If you have an interest in drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics (DMPK), and want to learn more about Bioanalysis and/or in vitro DMPK from highly skilled scientists, then apply for one of our two 12-month placements starting in summer 2025.
As part of the placement, you will work closely with your supervisor to plan and carry out experiments to support in vitro and/or in vivo studies. There will be hands-on training to enable you to perform in vitro assays or use liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) systems to develop new bioanalytical methods and process qualitative and quantitative results using instrument software. During your 12-month placement, you will have the opportunity to learn and gain hands-on experience in many systems for example the use of LC-MS and automated platforms to perform in vitro assays, spike calibration standards and extract biological samples. Understanding, interpreting and reporting results will also be a key aspect of the placement role. The data you generate will be used in the design of future compounds to optimise the DMPK profile of a compound for ideal development into a medicine. Working in brand new state-of-the-art laboratories you will be able to use your knowledge and skills to contribute to exciting R&D projects and make an impact on human health.
