Role Overview A Principal Pipelines Engineer is required to support Eni’s worldwide projects providing technical leadership within the Pipelines discipline. They will be part of the Eni project engineering group based in Basingstoke (UK) and support the Pipelines activities in the different phases of the project. Responsibilities (including but not limited to) Perform engineering design activities for onshore and offshore rigid pipelines in all phases of the project (from Concept Selection, FEED, ITT Preparation and follow-up of Execution phase) in collaboration with other colleagues within the pipeline department and within the organisation. Work on both brownfield and greenfield Projects, and within carbon capture activities. Be the Project Design Lead on large projects, managing and directing a team of discipline engineers and designers, and being responsible for the quality of pipeline work. Supervising and directing preparation of project deliverables and managing man hours of discipline resources in alignment with Chief of Department. Subject to project size, will delegate some level of supervision and specific checking activities to appropriate competent personnel. Supervise, review and checks the pipeline activities on a Project, including: Philosophies, Specifications, Routing Studies, Mechanical Design (wall thickness, buckling, spanning, expansion), Calculations, Stress Analysis, On-bottom roughness, Global Buckling, Walking Analysis, Tie-in and Expansion Loops Analyses, Crossing Design, Hot Tapping, Trenchless (HDD, microtunneling etc), Layability Analyses, Etc. Support CAD Designers in execution of layouts and Project Pipeline drawings. Prepare datasheets and technical requisitions, compile ITT & perform Bid Evaluations. Identifies and resolves discrepancies and divergences from original proposal/ contract by raising technical queries with projects / client. Identify deviations against CPY Standards and raise with Chief/Technical Authority. Validate the pipeline inspection and maintenance strategy and the definition of Emergency Pipeline Repair, Service studies. Perform site visits to manufacturers (line pipe, coating, valves, etc.) as required. Check design/installation activities carried by Third Parties during execution phase of the project. Act as a technical specialist for Pipeline design activities. Teamwork and collaboration with other colleagues in the pipeline department Liaise with other disciplines (Process, Material and Corrosion, Flow Assurance, Instrumentation, Civil, Construction and Commissioning) during project execution phase. Keep abreast of pipeline design standards requirements and correct application of Company HSEQ policies. Regularly review the suitability and accuracy of Eni technical standards and procedures and develop new ones as required. Undertake short term visits to a wide range of operating site and Eni geographic regional offices worldwide. Keep abreast of new legislations on plant design and performance. Ensure a high standard of safety is maintained and Environmental and Quality Assurance processes are followed. Knowledge and Experience Working experience in the Oil and Gas industry with respect to rigid offshore and onshore pipelines. Knowledge of software, such as DNVGL pipelines design suite (SESAM pipeline package, PET, AutoPipe, SAGE Profile, AGA is mandatory). Knowledge of software, such as Ansys, ABAQUS and Orcaflex is desirable. Knowledge of UK and international specifications and codes (BS, DNV, ISO, API and ASME) is desirable. Highly motivated with great interpersonal skills. Excellent teamwork capabilities. Strong planning and organisational skills. Willingness to act and develop into a high-level technical expert. Qualifications Ideally Degree qualified in a relevant Engineering discipline such as Pipeline Engineering, Subsea Pipeline Engineering, Offshore Engineering, Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
