Established SME manufacturing business currently has an opening for a Quality, Health, Safety & Environment Manager (QHSE Manager). This role reports to the Operations Director and is responsible for overseeing the Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental Processes and systems across the business.
37.5 hour week with flexible hours.
Core duties include:
General:
1. Develop Company policies and procedures in relation to Health & Safety and general company standards, which includes liaising with external supporting bodies.
Quality:
1. Data collation and analysis to assist with continuous improvements across all areas.
2. Liaising with customers and internal departments regarding non-conformances.
3. Responsibility for all internal non-conformances, including complaint investigation.
4. Managing the external audit processes, including BRC, ISO, FSC / PEFC.
5. Control of Internal QA documents and internal audit procedures.
6. Ensure regular internal audits are carried out to ensure ISO Compliance.
7. Coordinate the 6 monthly management meeting and prepare reports.
8. Conduct product traceability exercises.
9. Oversee the calibration process and issue maintenance schedules.
10. Ensure compliance to agreed accreditation standards.
11. Implementation of ISO 12647, regarding colour quality standards.
Health & Safety:
1. Advising the business on how to avoid hazards and ensuring a safe workplace and environment for employees.
2. Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety legislation.
3. Investigation of accidents and near-miss incidents and organise/chair regular H & S meetings.
4. Implementation and maintenance of site policies and procedures.
5. Control of COSHH and safety data sheets and Risk Assessments.
6. Ensure First Aiders and Fire Marshalls are trained and available.
7. Responsibility for fire alarms, testing, and site security, including intruder alarms.
8. Organise regular medical/health checks for employees and assist with any personal injury claims.
9. Ensure contractors have required work permits and work safely.
10. Hazard and HACCP analysis.
Environmental:
1. Ensure compliance with environmental legislation.
2. Engaging with regulators, suppliers, customers, employees, and the local community to build partnerships and raise sustainability awareness.
3. Completion of Customer and External Ethical Trading Questionnaires, including SEDEX, RSQS, and Ecovadis.
4. Organizing pollution control (including noise / LEV etc).
5. Organisation of waste management, hazardous waste, recycling, conservation, and renewable energy.
6. CCL and Deforestation.
7. Climate change and Carbon Footprint compliance and understanding.
