Maintenance Engineer I

The Opportunity
In the role of Maintenance Engineer I, your responsibilities will encompass repair and maintenance tasks, as well as overseeing lawncare and snow removal for Circle Sage properties. This primarily pertains to properties situated within the Hinckley regional area but may extend to other properties when necessary. The ideal candidate should possess the ability to operate independently without daily supervision, excel in multitasking, exhibit meticulous attention to detail, maintain excellent safety practices, and demonstrate a self-starting attitude.
Office Location: Hinckley, MN
Weekly Work Schedule: Associate is expected to work at the properties of Circle Sage; weekly work schedule will be 8 am – 5 pm with daily breaks and lunch.
What You Get to Do:
* Ensure timely completion of maintenance activities, with a combination of own and additional resources.
* Maintain necessary stocks of fuel, materials, tools, equipment in assigned facilities.
* Respond to customer inquiries, concerns, requests and resolve complaints in assigned facilities.
* Coordinate facility operation and maintenance activities with building occupants to minimize disruption.
* Operate, maintain, clean, and repair facility equipment.
* Keep daily logs of work performed.
* Perform janitorial duties as needed.
* Coordinate the preventative maintenance schedules for heating, cooling, ventilation, and other equipment in assigned facilities.
* Assist vendors with fire alarm inspections.
* Clean and service smoke detectors.
* Operate and maintain emergency generators, compressors, air conditioners, and heaters.
* Manage the operation, maintenance and testing of fire alarm panels and fire suppression systems for all city facilities.
* Grounds keeping on some or all of Hinckley properties, including mowing, trimming, etc.
* Snow removal on some or all of Hinckley properties, including snow blowing, sidewalk snow removal, walking path snow removal, parking lot snow removal, and de-icing of properties.
* Respond to work orders from supervisor on a daily basis, according to facility needs, and completing tasks on schedule.
* Perform minor repairs and maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, restocking paper towels, tissue and other supplies, service flush valves, clean mechanical rooms, and plunge toilets to maintain safety and sanitation standards.
* Paint assigned areas and perform minor repairs to applicable areas.
* General building preventative maintenance to ensure equipment is safe and effective for use, and downtime with equipment meets or exceeds established specifications.
* Move property furnishings/furniture as directed by supervisor.
* Assist in wall washing and light carpentry duties as assigned.
* Communicate with appropriate management for coordination and implementation of tasks and timelines.
* Ensure that all cleaning materials, chemicals, and equipment are used and labeled in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions as outlined in the Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
* Maintain strict adherence to all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety rules and regulations.
* Responsible for minor repairs and/or routine maintenance of building components and mechanical equipment, and to update replacements inventory as directed by the Maintenance Engineer II.
* Must take accountability for the cleanliness and overall condition of the property and grounds when performing tasks.
* Ensure compliance with all company service standards, policies and procedures.
* Interact with guests and other departments in a respectful, professional and courteous manner.
* Use web-based tools in maintenance work on buildings and equipment.
* Perform heavy cleaning when necessary.
* Handle emergency cleaning and upkeep requests.
* Clean and polish lighting fixtures and replace bulbs as needed.
* When required to operate a company vehicle, a valid driver’s license will be required.
* All other duties as assigned.

What Qualifies You:
* High school degree or equivalent.
* Valid Driver's License is required by date of interview and must be maintained as valid while employed in this position.
* Must have a minimum of one (1) year experience working with maintenance/routine maintenance repairs or cleaning and maintenance positions.
* Mille Lacs Band Member and American Indian preference will be exercised in the hiring process.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Two (2) or more years of experience working with maintenance, routine maintenance repairs or cleaning and maintenance positions.
Physical Requirements:
* See and adjust focus to include close, distance, color, depth, and peripheral vision.
* Stand, walk, run, sit, balance, stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, and/or crawl.
* Handle objects, tools, and controls; reach with arms and hands.
* Lift, push, pull and/or move objects weighing up to one hundred (100) pounds.
* Climb a variety of ladders, up to 36 feet tall, and use aerial lift equipment.
Exposure to:
* Moving mechanical and/or electrical components.
* Motorized equipment and machinery.
* Chemical solutions such as cleaning and polishing compounds.
* At times may be exposed to unusual indoor and outdoor elements such as extreme temperatures, wet or humid conditions, chemicals, fumes, vibration, airborne particles, dirt, dust and other hazards.
